The House of Rapscallion has been busy - REALLY we have - but we've experienced some technological difficulties for the past two months. Needless to say time, and lots of money later, we are finally back up and running and should be able to keep everything current from here on out.
In August Reggie, Twiggy's brother, came to stay with us and life has not been normal since. He's a very handsome boy and I just adore him, but he and Twiggy keep me constantly on my toes with their ornery ways. Too bad they're from Bayowulf, because they are certainly rapscallions.
POINTS WON
In September Twiggy won her third point, again under Judge Gayle Bontecou. Then Bobbi took back to back Best of Breed wins at Lehigh Valley (Judge Randy Garren) and Berks (Judge June Penta). These were Bobbi's 5th and 6th points and I'm very proud of her.
AGILITY
In October Bobbi competed in her very first agility trial. She was really tearing up the standard course (minus the weave poles because we're still training on those) until we got to the teeter. Being a novice handler with a novice dog, I made the unfortunate mistake of sending her to the teeter too fast and it dropped out from under her while she was still about five feet in the air. The landing was hard, but I think it was my reaction that scared Bobbi the most. Suffice it to say we are working our way through some teeter issues, but Bobbi shows an incredible willingness to continue, so I'm hopeful I haven't ruined her agility career before it even started.
MORE POINTS WON
At Catonsville KC last weekend we had a wonderful day! Reggie has finally decided showing is fun and he went Winner's Dog for his first point! His life is no longer pointless!!! Twiggy then won her class (of one) and Bobbi won her class of two. Bobbi went on to take Winner's Bitch, Best of Winners and Best of Opposite Sex for her 7th point under Judge Lisa Warren. Twiggy went Reserve Winner's Bitch.
The following day at the Maryland KC show, Reggie again took Winner's Dog for his second point and Bobbi went WB for her 8th point. Reggie took Best of Winners and Bobbi came home with best of opposite sex. One more win this year and Bobbi will be officially minor pointed out -- unless she takes her first major, but we dare not hope for fear of jinxing our chances...
NEXT ON THE HORIZON
In our sights for the rest of the season are the Valley Forge Basset Specialty, the Turkey Cluster, Gettysburg, Delaware Water Gap and possibly the benched show at Philadelphia. I'll be making those decisions in the very near future
